BTU Room Calculator
Find the correct aircon capacity for your room. Enter your room dimensions and conditions below — we'll recommend the minimum BTU/h and kW you need.
How is this calculated?
- ✓ Base: 350 BTU/h per m² (South African warm-climate baseline, average insulation)
- ✓ Adjusted for ceiling height relative to standard 2.4 m
- ✓ Room type, sun exposure and insulation add or subtract load
- ✓ Each additional person adds ~500 BTU/h; each window adds ~500 BTU/h
- ✓ Electronics load adds ~150 (light) / 400 (moderate) / 800 (heavy) BTU/h
- ✓ Result rounded up to nearest 500 BTU/h to avoid under-sizing
