Van Biljoens Appliance Services & Air Conditioning

Our Appliance Repair Workshop

Van Biljoens operates a proper appliance repair workshop in Pretoria. Every repair follows a structured process — assessment, quotation, approval, repair, test, and return. You are in control at every step.

How it works — step by step

The wording below reflects our standard process. Final process details will be confirmed with the Van Biljoens team before publication.

  1. 1
    Book your repair

Contact us by phone, WhatsApp, or via the online quote form. Tell us the appliance type and describe the fault. We will confirm availability.

  2. 2
    Drop-off & assessment fee

Bring the appliance to our Pretoria workshop — domestic fridges and freezers can be collected; all other appliances are brought in by the customer. A R300 assessment fee is paid upfront when you hand the appliance in — it covers the inspection, testing and diagnosis needed to prepare your quote.

  3. 3
    Workshop assessment

A qualified technician assesses the appliance and identifies the fault. This is a proper diagnostic assessment — not a guess.

  4. 4
    Written quotation

You receive a clear, itemised quotation for parts and labour, usually within 1 to 3 working days. Timing depends on suppliers providing pricing and confirming parts availability. No work begins until you approve.

  5. 5
    Your approval

You decide. If you accept, the R300 assessment fee is deducted from the total repair cost. If you decline the repair, the R300 remains payable for the assessment work performed.

  6. 6
    Repair carried out

The repair is completed by a qualified technician using appropriate parts.

  7. 7
    Tested before collection

Every repaired appliance is tested and confirmed working before we contact you to collect it.

  8. 8
    Collection

Collect your appliance from our Pretoria workshop — domestic fridges and freezers can be delivered back. Final payment is made at this stage.

The R300 assessment fee

A R300 assessment fee is paid upfront when you hand your appliance in. It covers the inspection, testing and diagnosis — the time and expertise required to determine the fault and prepare a detailed quotation.

  • If you accept the quote: the R300 is deducted from the total repair cost — you pay the quoted amount less R300.
  • If you decline the repair: the R300 remains payable for the assessment work performed.
  • If the appliance can't be repaired (e.g. spares are unavailable): the R300 is not refundable — it covers the skilled labour and workshop time used to safely diagnose your appliance.

Collection & delivery (fridges & freezers)

For domestic fridges and freezers, we can collect and deliver if you'd rather not transport the unit yourself. A transport charge then applies in addition to the assessment fee. Coverage area and the transport charge are confirmed when you book. All other appliances are brought to the workshop by the customer.

  • Repair accepted: the transport charge plus the quoted amount is payable before delivery.
  • Not repairable / scrapped: the transport charge plus the assessment fee is payable. The transport charge is the same either way — whether we return a repaired appliance to you or move a scrapped one on for disposal.

Transparency at every step

You receive a written quotation before any repair work begins. If the repair is not cost-effective, we will tell you honestly. Our goal is to give you the information you need to make the right decision — not just to proceed with every job.
